Two public polls on the ITV general election leaders debate have delivered contrasting results, with one indicating a clear win for Keir Starmer over Rishi Sunak and the other showing Sunak narrowly beating Starmer.
Redfield and Wilton Poll: Starmer Wins by 44% to 39%
According to the Redfield and Wilton poll, Starmer came out on top with 44% of viewers saying he performed better than Sunak, who received 39%. The poll suggests that Starmer was seen as more "practical, fun, and blokey," while Sunak was perceived as "dour, robotic, and lacking in warmth and personality."
Techne UK Poll: Labour Maintains 24-Point Lead
However, a separate poll from Techne UK showed that Labour continues to hold a significant lead in voter intentions. The poll, which was conducted before the debate, gave Labour a 24-point lead over the Conservatives, with 48% of respondents saying they would vote Labour and 24% saying they would vote Conservative.
YouGov Poll: Sunak Edges Out Starmer
A third poll from YouGov, conducted after the debate, showed Sunak performing slightly better than Starmer. The poll found that 51% of viewers said Sunak performed better, compared to 49% for Starmer.
